About me
Hi! My name is Pau Oliva Fora… and yes, you guessed right, that’s why my nickname is pof. This is my personal blog, related to my thoughts and experiences on technology, mostly focused on linux, wireless, gadgets, computer security, and other things that happen on the world around me.
I guess you are looking at this page because you want to know anything about me, that’s what this page is about, so I’ll start describing who am I and what I do in my life…
I was born in 1980 and used to live in Vinaròs with my parents. I had my first computer when I was 6 years old, since then I’ve been more or less involved in computer related things. In 1997 I started using Linux as my primary Operating System and have been using it since then. I used to be a big Slackware advocate and also started a LUG about it: eSlack where I used to post some news and technical stuff about Slackware in spanish, but the old good Slackware times went away when Gentoo reached version 1.0 and I switched to this distribution. Now all my computers run Gentoo linux and I am very happy about it.
I left Vinaròs in 1997 and moved to Barcelona because I was studying in Mataró (20Km away), I lived in Barcelona for one year but then I moved to Mataró to a flat closer to the university building. In 2003 I started working as Senior Network Engineer at KubiWireless in Barcelona, where I’m still working nowadays, and then I moved back to Barcelona again, where I live now.
In February 2004 I finished my Telecommunications career at EUPMT (UPC), my final thesis consisted on developing a Hotspot-In-a-Box using Open Source solutions.
In my free time I like coding, skiing in winters and do nautical sports in the summers. I also enjoy traveling, reading books and blogs, investigating on disruptive technologies and going out with friends.
Other stuff…
